“Preparation & Decision-Making Save Lives” Avi Nardia in Japan Special Seminar Series 2026
A world-renowned self-defense expert who trains Israeli special forces and elite protection units worldwide, and one of the figures representing global Krav Maga—Mr. Avi Nardia—will return to Japan. We will host a seminar series where you can learn realistic self-defense aligned with real-life situations in Japan.
In self-defense, it is important to learn skills and become capable—but what matters most is accurately reading the situation and making the right choice.
If you can avoid contact, avoid it. If you can disengage without fighting, that is the top priority.
Only when contact cannot be avoided do we use self-defense skills to manage the danger.
In this series, you will learn systematically from a master of self-defense with an emphasis on “decision → action”: danger avoidance, realistic preparation for life in Japan, control when you cannot escape, and worst-case scenarios involving edged weapons.

Purpose of This Seminar Series
The four sessions are designed as one continuous flow.
Avoid danger → Learn legal, realistic preparation in Japan → Prepare for situations where you cannot escape → Be ready for worst-case scenarios.
You can join a single session, but the curriculum is structured so that taking multiple sessions deepens both understanding and practical ability. To make it easier to attend multiple sessions, we offer bundle discounts.
Recommended For
- You assumed self-defense is “techniques,” but realistically feel there are risks in using force. You want to build decision-making skills before techniques.
- You want a systematic approach to daily actions and preparation that help you avoid danger.
- You want realistic preparation based on Japan’s laws and social context.
- You want strategies for situations where you cannot immediately leave—such as trains, workplaces, and other enclosed spaces.
- You want to learn decision-making and responses for worst-case incidents involving knives from a leading expert.

Decision & Action to Avoid Danger Situational Awareness & Risk Avoidance
Self-defense is not only “what to do after danger happens.” The safest and most realistic approach is
building everyday habits that prevent you from encountering danger in the first place.
In this session, you will learn the mindset for risk avoidance, appearance and behavior that reduce the chance of becoming a target, everyday preparation, and methods for situational awareness and risk avoidance.
We will also cover de-escalation, distance, positioning, and how to disengage without fighting in case you do encounter a threat.
Key Topics
- Mindset and everyday preparation to avoid attracting danger
- How appearance, posture, and behavior affect perceived risk
- Perspectives for spotting early warning signs of danger
- Avoiding escalation: words / distance / positioning
- How to disengage and end the situation without fighting
Protect Yourself with Everyday Objects Everyday Objects for Self-Defense
In Japan, the Minor Offenses Act may apply, and even for self-defense purposes, carrying items that could be considered weapons without valid reason can be punishable in some cases. That is why knowing how to use what you already carry in daily life for self-defense is a realistic form of preparedness.
The previous seminar on this theme held last May was extremely well received. This time, you will learn even more broadly—in a practical format—“what can be used, and how it can be used for self-defense.”
Key Topics
- Practical examples using bags, umbrellas, clothing, and other everyday items
- How to judge “what can be used and when”
- Repetitive practice with realistic scenarios
Session 3
Mon 2/23 (Holiday) 8:40–11:00
Chuo City General Sports Center
Control When You Cannot Escape Control & Restraint
The principle of self-defense is “escape immediately once you have dealt with the danger,” but in reality there are many situations where you cannot leave right away:
at home, at work, in shops; confined spaces like trains and elevators; or when family members or third parties are present.
In such situations, you need control skills and sound decision-making to prevent escalation while buying time until help or police arrive.
Key Topics
- Understanding scenarios where you cannot simply run away
- Control and restraint of a resisting person, and key cautions
- What to do until help arrives
- Responding alone vs. responding with a small group (2–3 people)
Session 4
Sun 3/15 9:00–12:00
Shinjuku Cosmic Sports Center
Self-Defense Against Bladed Weapons — Real-World Decision-Making & Skills Knife Threat Scenarios
There is no single universal answer to knife-related danger. The best option changes depending on distance, environment, and whether you must protect someone.
This session focuses not only on “techniques,” but on scenarios and decision-making.
You will build judgment by learning what to do across different situations—for example: how far the attacker is, whether there is something you can use as a barrier, and whether there are people who can help.
Key Topics
- Priorities the moment you recognize a blade (escape / protect / disengage)
- Decisions and initial actions when the distance is already close
- Assessing whether the environment offers anything helpful for self-defense
- Choices when you must protect someone
